Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Isaiah

Isaiah 6

Isaiah’s Commission

6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
    the whole earth is full of his glory.”

4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

9 He said, “Go and tell this people:

“‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
    be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’
10 Make the heart of this people calloused;
    make their ears dull
    and close their eyes.[a]
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
    hear with their ears,
    understand with their hearts,
and turn and be healed.”

11 Then I said, “For how long, Lord?”

And he answered:

“Until the cities lie ruined
    and without inhabitant,
until the houses are left deserted
    and the fields ruined and ravaged,
12 until the Lord has sent everyone far away
    and the land is utterly forsaken.
13 And though a tenth remains in the land,
    it will again be laid waste.
But as the terebinth and oak
    leave stumps when they are cut down,
    so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.”

Dear Father in Heaven,
Blessed Are You, Oh LORD,
Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are Worthy; You Alone Are Holy;
You Alone Are Righteous and Just;
And You Alone Are The One True God of The Universe!
How Wonderful Are Your Precepts;
How Precious Is Your WORD!
How Eternal and Sure Are Your Promises!

Abba Father,
In a world of duplicity,
Your Faithfulness Abides Forever!
You have established Your Covenant With Your People.
Your Word Declares it.
We pray For Your People,
According To Your Word,
According to Your Will,
And According to Your Promise.
Let Her Enemies Be Put To Shame and Confusion,
According to Your Word.

LORD, now WE Pray that Our Own Leaders will Listen to You!
We Pray that the leaders of the USA will be
Faithful to the people of Your Promise.
We Pray for our leaders to be inspired by Your Holy Spirit
To be faithful to the Friendship and Covenants
Between our two nations.

We ask You to Bless America and Israel
With peace and friendship,
Even if we end up being their only friend in the world.
We plead with You
On behalf of our captive Brothers and Sisters,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We lift up those being oppressed by the evil practice of slavery.
We stand against the vile and satanic forces of
antisemitism, communism, and hate,
Which boil and simmer around the world.

We Pray for the Coming of Messiah
to deliver Us from Evil.
Your Kingdom,
Oh LORD,
is Forever and Ever.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Culture is fascinated with "Death and the Afterlife". Every few years, a book about a near-death experience and a vision of Heaven becomes a best seller. The Best-Selling Book of all Time has a number of these Visions, and Isaiah's is detailed in the magnificent Chapter 6 of his wonderful Book.

Instead of the floaty nirvana described by modern authors, Isaiah is overcome by shame at his own inadequacy and sinfulness. His reaction is "Woe is me, for I am a man of unclean lips!", when faced with the awesome Holiness of Almighty God. Yet, when God calls out for a "volunteer", Isaiah immediately says, "HERE I AM, SEND ME!"

The Hebrew for "Here I am!" is Hineini, which is the same word Abraham used when God called him to sacrifice Isaac. (Coincidentally, that was my Torah reading this morning, and I DID NOT plan it that way!)

"Holy, Holy, Holy" is present in the liturgies of Catholic, Protestant and Jewish services. In Latin, it is "Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus," and in Hebrew, it is "Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh". It is also the name of a famous Hymn, and many current Worship Songs. It is also echoed in the songs of the Angels in John's Revelation, and is accepted among nearly all believers as the songs the Angels sing around the Throne of God continually.

12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.

13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
