The gay priest crisis, now evidenced by adult same-sex relationships rather than abuse of teenage boys, isn't going away as long as the hierarchy keeps it in the closet.
The recent scandal of Msgr. Edward Arsenault III, convicted of embezzling money to support his homosexual partners, is but the latest example. Reports of homosexual rings in places like the archdiocese of New York and accounts of Vatican officials coming out as gay make it clear that the root cause of the sex scandals in the Church, namely, gay and gay-friendly clergy, is being covered up but not cured.
Currently, Catholics hear little of priests abusing teenage boys, but replacing it is an explosion of reports concerning homosexual priests and their adult gay consorts. What's more disturbing are the reports by straight priests in U.S. dioceses who speak to ChurchMilitant of gay mafias running their dioceses.
Many bishops themselves are either gay or gay-friendly, and so aren't invested in tackling this homosexual crisis within the clergy. During an interview with Church Militant, Fr. Dariusz Oko, author of "With the Pope Against the Homoheresy," made this startling confirmation: "There is most definitely a problem with homosexual bishops in the universal Church."
He affirmed that gay clerics do in fact gain control in many dioceses. "There is a gay mafia inside the Catholic Church," he said. "They create these informal unions, and they infiltrate the Church."

I notice that in both pro-gay and anti-gay Catholic churches in the Atlanta area there are no altar boys. Only altar gals. Is there an explanation for this?
