President Trump is following through with one of his promises to let churches participate in political activity.

Sources tell the Washington Post that the repeal of the "Johnson Amendment" is being written into tax legislation that is currently developing in the House of Representatives.

This repeal that would end a six-decade-old ban on tax-exempt organizations, such as churches and universities, from endorsing political candidates. Lyndon Johnson first introduced it in 1954, nine years before he became president.

Trump said this would happen at the National Prayer Breakfast in February, stating: "I will get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our representatives of faith to speak freely and without fear of retribution." The provision would support evangelical Christians who helped get him elected as the 45th president of the United States....

They already are.

This "law" has had more selective enforcement than Obummer has had boyfriends.

All this does is make it possible for conservative religious organizations to do the same as liberal ones.

I don’t agree or like this. I’d rather see less businesses, orgs etc spending money on politics. Individuals wanting to support a candidate or election topic is fine, but for a church or org to support a politician usually means some people who paid in/donated to them may not be in agreement with who the church or org may support. plenty of liberal church leaders.

Sounds good to me.

And while we’re at it, is the unconstitutional, ill-advised McSwamp-authored ‘Campaign Finance Reform’ that GWB signed into law with the hopes of a Supreme Court smackdown (that never happened) still around?

If so, get rid of that self-destructive piece of legislation.

It is called freedom of speach, lefties suppress it, patriots support it.

Without the ministers being involved, 1776 would have been just another year, and today we’d be singing God Save the Queen.

Also, in recent times, how many minority churches and ministers were gone after by the IRS, as opposed to conservative ones?

Repeal the Johnson rule!

...orgs etc spending money on politics.

But organizations are the very essence of our political party system. No one listens to just one person, there needs to be many voices in unison.

A church that "comes out" as either left or right will let the members know which "side" their church is really on. That should make it easier for real Christians to find a true church and avoid the ones that skate ever so gingerly between the lines.

They already are doing this. How many times did Shillary speak at a predominately black church? Obama? Kerry? Any dimocrat??

Only conservative churches are respecting the law.
