Psalms 97:9
For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
He is the God of gods, and He is exalted high upon His throne. The enemy of our souls would like to overthrow God, but he can't because God is God.
Psalms 97:10
Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
I'm glad God preserves His saints, and I'm glad He tells those who love the Lord to hate evil. Our first love, our first everything is to God, and here we see two sides of the coin, to love the Lord on one side, and to hate evil on the other.
People say, "Hate is a strong word" and it is, and it's a word that God uses.
Ecclesiastics 3:8
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Revelation 2:6
But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
It's obvious from just the few verses provided, that God does hate certain things, and if Jesus hates certain things, and we are commanded to be followers of God.
Ephesians 5:1
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Then as Christians we need to follow His example, and hate the things God hates. Hate is a strong word, a very strong word, but it's used time and time again in the Bible. It's impossible to have true, unconditional love without hating the enemy that seeks to destroy it.
I look at it this way, how can one love being in great health, without hating horrible diseases? Or how can one love a beautiful pristine mountain lake, without hating the ugly garbage people might throw into it?
The truth is one loves as much as one hates, the more a Christian loves God, the more he hates sin. The more a Christian loves what Jesus loves, the more he hates the things that are against Christ.

Yesterday the topic was hypocrisy, I chose that topic because I felt that the HFC, were being very hypocritical in opposing Paul Ryan on Healthcare, after throwing majority support behind him for House Speaker, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE!!
CoronatedPaul Ryan Nominated Unanimously by Voice Vote
Freedom Caucus Majority Backs Paul Ryan for House Speaker
At one time, before the vote in 2015 Paul Ryan had a conservative rating that barely broke 50% on the heritage action scorecard, his score is higher now, but still just a 58% lifetime rating. I just believe it's hypocritical to support someone, who you mostly disagree with, and yet claim to stand on high moral ground in opposing that same person, when he does the things you knew full well he would do. If it was me, I would have sat on my hands during the vote, or I would have taken the day off, but that's just me.
I like Rush Limbaugh, and Rush has a way of making certain points, he does this thing where he demonstrates absurdity by being absurd. So, yesterday I took that idea and ran with it. I told people who were very angry with me, and who wanted me to leave the Religion forum forever,
" Believe me I wont touch that religion forum, with a ten foot pole. Please return the courtesy!
with no intention of actually doing what I said, thereby demonstrating hypocrisy, by being hypocritical.
Now, I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I would bet you that the HFC supporters, who are so quick to dismiss HFC hypocrisy, will not be so quick to dismiss mine.
If you were not supposed to get a ping, please let me know, I will take you off the list.
Hi-
please add me to your ping list. Most appreciated. Thanks!
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
What part of Ryancare “is just a continuation of federal control over health care matters and that is an issue reserved to the states and the people” do you not comprehend?
I say that Jesus’ descriptions of the Pharisees would qualify as “Hate” today under the current definitions. .
Any prior hypocrisy or sins committed by the HFC doesn’t matter a whit to this current vote to uphold the constitution and restore our God-given Liberty. They are redeeming themselves and going forth on the straight and narrow path. There’s a biblical message in there somewhere for you to ponder as the logs are moved from your eyes.
Thank You.
What Not did the same thing yesterday. He started a so called Religion Caucus thread and immediately went political by bashing conservatives in the HFC.
Do you have a political element to all your threads in the religion forum?
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
Title isn’t “Rand Paul and healthcare”.
The King James Version is still the ultimate Bible for me. I had two in my possession that just wore out with the binding disintegrating and the pages coming out, so I ordered a new one the other day. The “archaic” language is still stately, inspired, classic and noble to me.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”

For example, you ask “Should a Christian hate”? But the problem with the question is that to us in modern English, the word hate is DIFFERENT than the word used in the KJV. For another example, consider the word LOVE in the KJV may be one of the various words for love in the NT the are much more specific than the sole generic word love in English.
Consider this verse (Luke is documenting the words of Our Lord, Jesus)
Luke 14:26 King James Version (KJV)
If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Now does Jesus mean here we are to start hating our family? NO! Check out Strong's lexicon on hate G3404 and notice that there is a form what simply means to love less than another.
So the problem with your question is - if you rely on only the KJV and your common English understanding, you will be in trouble with a word study for hate.
In Luke, Jesus is saying if you love you family MORE than you love Him, you cannot be his disciple. There are likewise OT scriptures that are similar in form.
The problem here is our concept of Hate, and what it means. To us, it is an emotion, completely separate from Love. To the writers of the bible Love and Hate two ends of a scale.
To illustrate, I can ask - which do you Love more chocolate or bacon?
Let's say you answer chocolate. You would be loving chocolate more than bacon, and hating bacon more chocolate. That does NOT mean you hate bacon!!!
it means you love it less than chocolate!
To hate is to love. This juxtaposition is God’s gift to his children.
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing
The Byrds, sampled, “Turn, Turn, Turn”, a wonderful translation of Ecclesiastics 3:8.
How about these:
Matthew 26:11
For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always
Mark 14:7
For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
John 12:8
For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always
I believe there exist annotated versions of the KJB that put the meanings of words in context on the margins, are there not?
There are also different versions of the KJB, aren’t there?
BTW, thanks for your comments.
