Its authors said that of the reasons for revolution in Russia were "the apostasy and neglect of faith in Christ, and the rejection of the Divinely-ordained government."

Try the criminal incompetence of the "divinely-ordained government" in getting agrarian, backwards Russia involved in a war against a modern industrial nation. To add insult to injury, involving Russia in that war to back up another Orthodox state, Serbia, which had committed an act of terrorism and regicide against another European monarchy's "divinely-ordained government".

Count Witte was right.

Because the ROC is on the wrong side of the Schism silly. And we know that even if it were not, it’s the Greek Church that would be legitimate. lol.

Apparently the Moscow Patriarchate disagrees. Quite apropos considering that it’s run by “former” KGB agents.

Believe it or not, my understanding is that Putin has a great deal of reverence for the Orthodox Church. Hearing this may actually give him pause.

He has a great deal of reverence for the KGB/Government-run Moscow Patriarchate. This statement was issued by the staunchly anti-Communist Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. I guarantee that Putin has no "reverence" for it whatsoever.

The church generally doesn’t make a move like this without talking to Putin first as is normal with state religions, so I’d expect this was approved. Putin may or may not be a sincere in his faith, but he is clearly using the faith to push Russia in a more traditional direction. Just because someone may be a killer doesn’t mean they’re not smart enough to realize that Christianity and Traditionalism are the rocks that western civilization was built on, not liberalism.

Again, this is the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, not Putin's Moscow Patriarchate. The two churches have historically been on opposite sides of the spectrum.

Didn’t ROCOR rejoin with Moscow a couple of years ago, or am I misremembering things I read?
