Wow... The benchmark for calling something a miracle sure has dropped...
Pretty cool they are using geothermal energy, but it’s hardly a miracle or even a minor one...
Sorry to hear that. I have jumped from hot to cold for most of my life. California to Germany to Florida to Alaska to New Mexico to Minnesota and finally back to Florida. I’ve seen temps down to -140 and up to +130 at 90% humidity.
Since I developed arthritis I can’t stand the cold. When I deployed last year, I was the only one not complaining about the heat in the sandbox. I’d go outside just to warm up since they kept the buildings around 65. Of course, our dorms were often 85-90, and I did whine about that. Dang hard to sleep in a puddle of your own sweat.
There’s pro and cons to everywhere. Lots of pretty country up north. I enjoyed most everywhere we lived, but I’d not do it now. I do miss the wilderness, though. If my health were better, I might consider moving back to the mountains.
What if everyone tapped into the ground water? Sounds like a “tragedy of the commons”.
I have had geothermal heat/cooling in my home for 20 years. No oil or gas bills, only a monthly electric bill of an average of 225.00. I had to replace the unit six years ago which cost around $5,000. It also increases the resale value of the home.
Tapping into the fires of Hell to heat Saint Patricks Cathedral! Brilliant!
My thoughts exactly. And there is plenty of sin in NYC to keep the Hell fires stoked.
