Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Psalms

(Psalm 103)

Psalm 103

Of David.

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The Lord works righteousness
    and justice for all the oppressed.

7 He made known his ways to Moses,
    his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
    slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
    or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
    he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
    and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
    the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
    and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
    and remember to obey his precepts.

19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
    and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Praise the Lord, you his angels,
    you mighty ones who do his bidding,
    who obey his word.
21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
    you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the Lord, all his works
    everywhere in his dominion.

Praise the Lord, my soul.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Holy, Sanctified and Hallowed is Your Most Wonderful Name!
You Alone Are Worthy to be Praised and Worshiped,
For Your Alone Are The One True Master of the Universe.
King of Kings,
Lord of Lords,
Creator, Preserver, and Destroyer of Worlds!
You Are the Almighty,
The GREAT I AM,
The Rock of Ages,
The Ancient of Days.
Let All That Is Within Me Bless Your Holy Name!

1. Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2. Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4. Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5. Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Hallelujah!
How Good and Wonderful it is to Praise and Worship You,
Dear Father!
Thank You for these Words from Your Sweet Psalmist David,
a sinner like ourselves,
a man of war and diplomacy, capable of of both great bitterness and also great love.
Thank You for letting us know,
That, in spite of his sins,
David was a "Man After Your Own Heart".

6. The LORD executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
7. He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
8. The LORD is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
9. He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10. He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

We Thank You for the Persistence and Stubbornness,
Which You have built into Your Chosen People,
Which has kept Them Alive to this Day,
in spite of the evil one's efforts to destroy Them.
Thank You for Your Promise to Preserve them Forever,
and to Restore Them to Their Land.
Thank You For Giving Us Your LAW
Through the Jewish People,
Which is the Foundation of Our Constitution,
Our Freedom and Liberty,
and all that is Decent in Western Civilization.

11. For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12. As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13. As a father pities his children,
So the LORD pities those who fear Him.
14. For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.

LORD, We ask that You fill the leaders of the USA with Your Spirit,
that they may make Holy and Righteous Decisions.

15. As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
And its place remembers it no more.
17. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
On those who fear Him,
And His righteousness to children’s children,
18. To such as keep His covenant,
And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

Thus Saith The LORD.
You Have Said it.
We Believe You.

19. The LORD has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all.

Father, We eagerly await Messiah,
To Establish His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

20. Bless the LORD, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.
21. Bless the LORD, all you His hosts,
You ministers of His, who do His pleasure.
22. Bless the LORD, all His works, In all places of His dominion.

Bless the LORD, O my soul!

Thank You, Father, For The Assurance of Your Holy Word!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Chiastic Structure (There and Back Again) of Psalm 103 is evident upon its first reading, when one knows what to look for! What is not as obvious, however, is the incredibly LYRICAL nature of this Psalm. Songwriters from Rachmaninoff to Andre Crouch have set this Psalm to music. So here are a few of them to enhance your morning prayer:

Andre Crouch

Matt Redman

Rachmaninoff

And that's just a few of them!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

God Bless America!

Sergei Rachmaninoff - Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom Op. 31 was beautiful. The bells ringing at the closing were lovely.

My Pleasure!

Tchaikovsky has also set the Liturgy of St John Chrysostom to music. His style is totally different than Rachmaninoff’s, yet conforms to the very strict parameters that the Russian Orthodox Church demands of its music.

In these days of You Tube, one can listen, listen, listen, and never run out of gorgeous music! :-)
