Excellent meditation, very clear and to-the-point!
How does one, who is a “new creation” and a true follower of Jesus Christ blasphemy the Holy Spirit?
pretty harsh. blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin.
Matthew 19:9 - And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Believers can (but do not have to) divorce a cheating spouse.
1 Corinthians 7:15 - But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
If a Christian is married to an unsaved person who abandons them, they may (but do not have to) divorce that person.
In the bigger picture, here, we do not have to torture ourselves for a definition of blasphemy. The Scribes were rejecting Jesus. They were saying that the Saviour of the world, Son of God, the very Messiah - was Satan.
Rejecting Christ is the ultimate blasphemy. THAT’s what they were talking about.
As bad as divorce or many other sins are, none are unforgivable except rejection of Jesus Christ. And ANY sin, including the smallest offense, is sufficient to condemn a person to Hell, if that person does not have Christ.
