Into the many disputes over Amoris Laetitia, Malta’s bishops have shown what church leaders can do with the space created by Pope Francis reclaiming forgotten parts of the Catholic tradition. When it comes to giving Communion to a manifest grave sinner, the species of the person’s sin is completely irrelevant. It may be adultery, sodomy, or being a proponent of abortion. As long as Nancy Pelosi is allowed to receive Communion, anyone must be allowed to receive Communion.

That is why the collaboration of American bishops with pro-abortion politicians has prepared the way for Bergoglio’s attack on marriage. Donald Wuerl has been, since the death of Joseph Bernardin, the most vociferous abortion enthusiast in the hierarchy.

Phil Lawler just revealed that Virgil Dechant was commanded by Cardinal Casaroli (John Paul’s Sec’y of State) not to expel pro-aborts from the Knights of Columbus.
