Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Nearly 40 years ago my late husband and I got our first 4-Wheel Drive vehicle. It was an old, used Ford Bronco, and was so obsolete that one was required to step outside and lock the hubs in order to engage the 4-Wheel Drive feature. My husband, two brothers, and another pal decided to take it out for a "spin" around the quarries and have some fun with it while the ladies stayed home. Hours and hours passed, and I was beginning to get a little worried, so I called the police in the community where the quarry was located. The cop who answered the phone said:

Oh, THOSE idiots? They ended up door-deep in the mud and we had to get the fire department to pull them out!

Here is a little science for you: When you are up to the doors in the mud, you can't get out and lock the hubs!

In the old Westerns and jungle movies, there was always a "Quicksand Scene". It was scarier than a tiger or a crocodile, or even a villain with a gun. There is no way a person could get out of the quicksand by himself. He always had to reach out for help. It was often the Turning Point in the plot, when someone would pull the guy out of the quicksand and would start a new relationship and change everything.

King David gives us a beautiful picture of that helplessness of being stuck in the mud. It is nearly always our own fault that we are stuck in the first place, and, by ourselves there is no way of escape. In David's Psalm, God reaches down, pulls him out, sets his feet upon a rock, and fills his heart with a song of praise. May everyone who reads this be pulled out of any quicksand you are experiencing, and may your feet be standing upon The Rock.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

WAITED patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

We pray in particular on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya and throughout the Mideast. The members of the oldest of our Christian Communities, some of which date from the days of the Apostles, suffer under cruel, merciless and unrelenting persecution. They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."

Great analogy.

Blessed is the one
    who trusts in the Lord,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.[

Amen, left that other site

It is nearly always our own fault that we are stuck in the first place...Amen...But, our Mighty God is a merciful God. Father God, we pray that those who resist You and try to make their own way, will gain wisdom before their check out time. We pray that they will cease rebelling and humbly seek You. We especially pray for the missionaries in the Middle East. We pray for their protection and we pray that they will succeed to spread the Good News. We pray these things in Jesus name.
