The text says, I am baptizing you with water, for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is mightier than I. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Any KCMO area freepers should go see Carivaggio’s young John the Baptist at the Nelson. I have to sit and wait for the room to clear or quiet down and then the power of it is amazing.

SOMEDAY, Salvation, you ought to save your pennies and visit the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. It was one of the very first cities ever founded...very old. That was because it had/has TWO completely independent fresh water wells WAY beneath its city. Most cities were founded over there if there was ONE fresh water well, but Damascus has TWO.

Also it's the home of DAMASK cloth. I bought two beautifl damask table cloths from there. They are made from Egyptian cotton, beautifully embroidered, wash BEAUTIFULLY and are practically indestructible.

--On August 29, 2012, during a televised public audience at the summer palace of Castel Gandolfo, Pope Benedict XVI mentioned the dedication of a crypt in Sebaste, Samaria, where the head of the Baptist had been venerated since the middle of the fourth century.
In addition, the Pontiff also noted that the religious feast particularly commemorates the transfer of this relic, now enshrined in the Basilica of San Silvestro in Capite in Rome.

The Umayyad Mosque, also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus located in the old city of Damascus, is one of the largest and oldest mosques in the world.
I saw this: A dozen imams, praying 24/7, sit around a 15-foot tall, beautiful object whose TOP holds the head of St. John the Baptist.
