Pope Warns Trump: Do Not Back Away from UN Climate Pact – Pope Declares ‘Crisis of Climatic Change’

Pope Francis has issued a climate change challenge directly to President Elect Trump. The Pope, in thinly veiled speech, urged Trump not to withdraw the U.S. from the United Nations Paris agreement reached in 2015. The UN treaty has been said by critics to be “history’s most expensive treaty’,” with a “cost of between $1 trillion and $2 trillion annually.”

Pope Francis warned of the “crisis of climate change.” “The ‘distraction’ or delay in implementing global agreements on the environment shows that politics has become submissive to a technology and economy which seek profit above all else,” Francis said, in what Reuters described as “a message that looked to be squarely aimed at” Trump.

Trump pledged to pull the U.S. out of the UN Paris climate agreement and defund and withdraw from the UN climate process.

Warns? Or else what? He’ll ally with Muslims in the name of what’s holy?

Isn’t the Church supposed to stand aside and above temporal matters?

The UN treaty has been said by critics to be “history’s most expensive treaty’,” with a “cost of between $1 trillion and $2 trillion annually.”

That there is the crisis the Pope is speaking of - that the U.S.A. under Trump won't be willing to shell out a trillion or two for it. The Pope can pass around a hat to others to pay for it. Not us.

Luckily, Donald Trump is a nominal Protestant under no obligation to Rome.

Whats with a pope pushing global warming? Why doesn’t he try to save souls? Preach to us about Catholic doctrine and theology?? maybe even pray for world peace???

I was talking to somebody who said Pope Francis’ seeming activism is the same as John Paul II, and his work towards the collapse of communism. Both social justice warriors said this friend of mine. Why do people criticize Pope Francis when those same people didn’t criticize John Paul, asked my friend. Both step outside strict bounds of theological issues.

My only answer was that fighting communism was a greater good then fighting global warming. I’m sure some freepers could have better responses than I came up with off the top of my head.

Excellent!

The Pope can take money from the Vatican and make up the difference, if he is so concerned. Put your money were your mouth is, as they say.

No Catholic has to listen to what any Pope says about science or politics. He is not speaking on matters of faith and morals. I don’t care what kind of pizza he likes either.
