Two Texas Baptist churches may be expelled from the Baptist General Convention of Texas for their welcoming open-door policies toward LGBTQ people, reports say.

The Baptist Standard reports that Wilshire Baptist in Dallas and First Baptist in Austin received letters from BGCT officials stating that because the churches had affirmed themselves with the LGBTQ people, they were "no longer being in harmonious cooperation with the BGCT."

I don’t understand liberal Baptists. “Homosexuality and abortions are OK but don’t you dare baptize an infant!” :?

Wilshire was my church growing up. It used to be a very conservative church, and one I loved.

I’ll have to ask my mom about what’’s going on with it.

Those are a very small minority. A liberal SBC here had a female minister who was kicked out for performing the first ss marriage after the ruling. My SBC is very conservative.

This is not at all clear that both sides are talking about the same thing, or what exactly the church is being threatened with sanctions over.

Does the SBC demand gay folks be banned from attendance? Is the local church affirming homosexual behavior? From this article, who knows?

“Does the SBC demand gay folks be banned from attendance?”

Each church makes their own rules, but most SBC churches will let anyone come and listen. Most pastors I know would be very glad to have gay people come to their churches, so they could hear about Jesus.

You need to be a born-again follower of Christ to join a SBC as a member. Coming to a service and becoming a member are two different things.

I have extended family members who attend First Baptist in Austin. It’s a “Downtown” church and I imagine it’s been a place Democrats would frequent and attempt to steer away from the gospel and towards social engineering.

You have to remember that Goal #1 of any liberal is to justify sin and deny the holiness of Christ. Sacrifices are made to fit in with “the community” and before you know it, they stop preaching against sin and start excusing it.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow,” says the Bible yet liberal churches think He must be morphed to fit society’s values rather than preaching that society should be molded to Christ’s values.

No

Is the local church affirming homosexual behavior?

Yes, see the letter to the Texas Baptist from the Church here:

The Churches will be disavowed from the SBC for affirming homosexual behavior, not for allowing homosexuals to hear God’s word in the pews.

The BGCT are the liberal Southern Baptists in Texas. The conservative churches affiliate with the Southern Baptists of Texas. (A few are dual affiliated).

SBT - http://sbtexas.com/
BGCT - http://texasbaptists.org/

So these folks are so bad, they are being kicked out by the liberals.
