The Rosary was very powerful in turning back overwhelming Muslim forces then.

It will be powerful now in protecting our country from destruction. I’m praying the Rosary daily for our country

If the Gregorian calendar reform had already taken place (obviously it couldn't since Pope Gregory hadn't been elected yet), the date of the battle would have been October 17th.

So if you missed the chance to celebrate the anniversary of the battle on the 7th, feel free to do so tomorrow.

At the battle of Lepanto, the Christian fleet captured a banner from a Turkish ship. It was placed in the Vatican Museum. It was returned to Turkey by (I believe) John Paul II, as a good will gesture. It's now in the Naval Museum in Istanbul, where I saw it.
