Amoris Laetitia versus the Church’s enduring Magisterium on matrimony [Catholic Caucus]

Catechism of the Catholic Church

The catechism clearly states that Christ condemns adultery

Adultery refers to marital infidelity. When two partners, of whom at least one is married to another party, have sexual relations – even transient ones – they commit adultery. Christ condemns even adultery of mere desire (cf. Mt 5:27–28). The sixth commandment and the New Testament forbid adultery absolutely (cf. Mt 5:32; 19:6; Mk 10:11; 1Cor 6:9–10). The prophets denounce the gravity of adultery; they see it as an image of the sin of idolatry (cf. Hos 2:7; Jer 5:7; 13:27). (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 2380)

The Church declares: if the divorced are remarried civilly, they find themselves in a situation that objectively contravenes God’s law

If the divorced are remarried civilly, they find themselves in a situation that objectively contravenes God’s law. Consequently, they cannot receive Eucharistic communion as long as this situation persists. For the same reason, they cannot exercise certain ecclesial responsibilities. Reconciliation through the sacrament of Penance can be granted only to those who have repented for having violated the sign of the covenant and of fidelity to Christ, and who are committed to living in complete continence. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1650)

As a practicing Catholic, I never really understood the big deal about adultery. It’s number 6. What about number 3 which all of us ignore? The Sabbath, BTW is Saturday and Mass is on Sunday. Most Catholics break all of them except murder. Just saying...

If you don't understand, you shouldn't really call yourself a "practicing Catholic".

This is a [Catholic Caucus] thread. You are obviously not Catholic and apparently either can’t read or just ignore all rules not just the Ten Commandments.

“You are obviously not Catholic”

So going to Mass weekly for 70 years doesn’t count?

Doesn't count for squat if you "never understood the big deal about adultery".

“Doesn’t count for squat if you “never understood the big deal about adultery”.”

The point I was making, Jerk, is that breaking the 6th is no different than breaking any of the others... And all of the other Catholics (except for Saint Rashputin) have broken (most) of the others.

BTW, do you go to Mass on Saturday or Sunday?

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" Mark 2:27, hence quit relying on materialism/money/earthly concerns and reflect on what is actually important, rest and reflect on the Spiritual rather than the temporal. Has nothing to do with visiting a Temple/Church on the sixth day, jeez.

Adultery; don't defile the marriage bed and rape your spouse's soul. Two become one; adultery turns the perpetrator into a prostitute. Heck, even pagan Rome understood this concept (Although hypocritically). When a spouse committed adultery, they were required to divorce them. Why? Because you would be accused of "pimping" out your spouse.

Tell me. Are you ignorant in ALL things, or just things involving religion?

The Sabbath was NOT made for man.
