Ex-Catholic Michael Coren stripped of papal knighthood
EWTN ^ | September 25, 2016 | Michael Coren

Posted on 09/25/2016 7:04:32 PM PDT by Loyalist

Michael Coren, former Catholic apologist and journalist, has been stripped of his papal knighthood following his reception into the Anglican Church of Canada in 2013. Coren is known for his popular work of Catholic apologetics, Why Catholics Are Right, and for his schism from the Church over her doctrine on homosexuality. He is married with four children.

Cardinal Aloysius Ambrozic made Mr Coren a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre in October 1992, for 'services to Catholic media'. According to an interview with the ultra-liberal Catholic journal, The Tablet, "Coren was stripped of his papal knighthood and asked to return the medal -- he has so far refused."

Known for his combative, acerbic style of journalism, Michael Coren now uses his TV show, newspaper columns and social media to attack the Catholic Church. To commemorate the canonisation of St Teresa of Calcutta Michael Coren published a character assassination of Mother Teresa in the style of Christopher Hitchens.

Guess he has to pawn it now that he's spent his thirty pieces of silver.

He decided that since Catholics didn’t embrace the queer agenda, he couldn’t be Catholic and has become an Anglican where queers are welcomed with deep bows from the waist.

At least he was honest. I wish the rest of the liberal Catholics would follow suit and join a church that agrees with their "values" instead of trying to change ours (we'll be happy to take the conservative Anglicans in exchange)

Too bad he won't return the medal. It would be like Milli Vanilli pretending they still have a Grammy because they refuse to return the physical trophy after the award itself was revoked.

As a Brit (albeit one living in Canada), he is following an appropriate exemplar. The English sovereign proudly retains the title “defender of the faith” bestowed upon Henry VIII by the Pope for Henry’s work against Luther.

True, as her majesty's subjects continually sneer at American politicians for being "too religious", not realizing the irony that their politicians enshire an "official religion" mandated by government. I'm not seeing any "Lords Spiritual" Catholic Bishops in the Senate passing laws, or "Church of America" chartered in the U.S. Constitution. Interesting how it works that way.

This is the second time he’s left the Catholic Church. The first time in the 90’s because it was too liberal. He came back in 2004. Now it’s too conservative. He would’ve been considered a homophobe or gay basher in his earlier writings. I think he should should’ve sought a good psychiatrist rather than another church.

Face facts. Around eighty percent of the people in this country who claim to be Christian are nothing of the sort.

At best those in that eighty percent are heretics and at worst they're false flag anti-Christians saying they're Christian as a convenient means to spread their anti-Christian globalist agenda.

Catholic or not, people in this country have by and large ceased to be Christian other than when saying so keeps them from having to admit they're no different than the pagans in Carthage or Rome who acknowledged their gods because it was the socially acceptable thing to do.

If you think I'm overstating the dire situation just consider how many protests there have been against queers marrying one another, Satanists "chaplains" in the military, and Iz Lame mosques sprouting up like deadly fungus.

In all fairness, if I got an award and they revoked it, I would totally keep the medal/statue. ;d

Okay, valid point, I probably would too (but I'd probably cave to pressure if they made a public demand that I return it)

I think I found a picture of the "Knight of the Holy Sepulchre" medal. Not too shabby:

This guy sounds like the religious version of Bob Barr or something. I actually googled Coren's religious history, here's a rough breakdown:

1959-1980ish - Jewish
early 80s - early 90s? - Roman Catholic Christian
mid 90s - 2004 - Evangelical Protestant Christian
2004-2014 - Roman Catholic Christian
2014-Present - Anglican Protestant Christian

In a few years, we can expect to see Coren convert to Sunni Islam, and Barr to run for Senator from Georgia on the Green Party ticket.

The FOUNDER of Anglicanism was Henry VIII whose "exemplar" for wives also set an example: divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.

American Protestants have followed his banner. Liz Taylor, with SEVEN husbands, outdid the king. Not surprising.
Nothing to be proud of since it went directly against the words of Jesus.

Nothing to be proud of since he led an entire nation away from the Catholic faith. England's persecution of Catholics is nothing to be proud of either. These weren't small, unimportant events.

Henry VIII began England's abandonment of their Catholic faith because of the PRIDE of Henry and his determination to have a son, no matter what: divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.

Divorce, homosexuality...right in there against the Commandments. NOTHING to be proud of.

OR, he might even start his own cult a la David Koresh or Jim Jones.

He went for Catholicism twice. So, he simply CANNOT decide on truth. THAT's a problem.

Rather ironic that Henry left the Catholic Church because he wanted a little boy.

It seems to me many of the grievances of Catholics departing from the faith fall under the banner of people craving sex with whom they feel entitled in any form their lust demands; the corruption of lust in the world.

While Henry VIII was determined to have a son, his overriding concern and master was always lust. That so much of the Western World has embraced the sham he founded and the thousands of factions resulting from that sham as if they're true and pure Christianity is the underlying cause for the gradual collapse of Western Civilization.

Anyone who doubts that need only read what Luther himself wrote with regard to satisfying lust as opposed to submitting to the words of Christ Himself. Submission first to lust, then to Self in all things, is the road to doom in this life and the next.

Many, if not most, such folks also imitate Henry by swearing they just want to "deliver" others from Catholicism. In reality, they're in exactly the same situation as Milton describes Samson as being in, "Eyeless in Gaza, at the mill with slaves, Himself in bonds under Philistian yoke.".

The only difference is that Lust rather than Philistians made slaves of them.
