(Revelation 13)

The Beast out of the Sea

13 The dragon[a] stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.[b]

9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.

10 “If anyone is to go into captivity,
    into captivity they will go.
If anyone is to be killed[c] with the sword,
    with the sword they will be killed.”[d]

This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people.

The Beast out of the Earth

11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13 And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.

We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.


We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,

To Establish His Kingdom,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I am warning you in advance! The images that I will be posting today are going to be WEIRD! That is simply because the Visions that John is reporting to us are outside of the realm of human experience. Bear in mind that his Visions were symbolic, and that the horrific beasts John saw were representative of events, institutions, governments, people, and spiritual entities and principles.

The Three Beasts are traditionally identified as an unholy trio:

The Dragon represents The Devil, Satan, The Adversary, Lucifer, the Fallen Angel.

The Beast from the Sea represents The Nations, The World System, and and individual known as the (upper-case A) Antichrist. (It can be noted here that the rough and angry seas in this Passage indicate world-wide unrest and agitation.)

The Beast with horns like a lamb but who speaks blasphemies is what has come to be known as "The False Prophet". He represents a world religion that is the OPPOSITE of the Judeo-Christian Faith, and is the ENEMY of the Truth.

It is easy to see how early scholars equated these three to the Roman Empire and its vicious persecution of Christians and Jews. Then, during the Crusades, it was easy to see these three as the Saracens. During the Reformation, both sides sniped at each other saying that the other was the embodiment of the Beast. Less than 100 years ago, Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo were a perfect match for the unholy trio! In the 1970's, some thought that the Beast from the Sea was either the UN or the European Common Market.

However, it would seem that none of those "Interpretations", even if they contained some element of truth, came to fruition in those eras in which they were expected. Now, with 20/20 hindsight, we can see that the last 2000 years have been "building up" to Armageddon. Suddenly, in our modern world of CGI, DNA, IRS, CIA, NSA, EU, and ISIS, these beasts don't seem as far-fetched as they did to poor old John on the Island of Patmos.

8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
