Alas! this organization which formerly afforded such promising expectations, this limpid and impetuous stream, has been harnessed in its course by the modern enemies of the Church, and is now no more than a miserable affluent of the great movement of apostasy being organized in every country for the establishment of a One-World Church which shall have neither dogmas, nor hierarchy, neither discipline for the mind, nor curb for the passions, and which, under the pretext of freedom and human dignity, would bring back to the world (if such a Church could overcome) the reign of legalized cunning and force, and the oppression of the weak, and of all those who toil and suffer.

The seeds were planted a lot earlier than Vatican II. Read Pope St. Pius X's 1907 encyclical Pascendi Dominici Gregis (On the Doctrines of the Modernists) as every Catholic should, and its accompanying 1907 syllabus of errors Lamentabile Sane. He described the Modernist Heresy as the synthesis of ALL heresies and he also excommunicated ring leaders of the Modernists such as George Tyrrell, SJ. He demanded loyalty oaths of all priests and seminarians, He established a schedule for all diocesan bishops and archbishops to report every thee years on a staggered schedule on the state of the effort to systematically eliminate Modernism in their respective dioceses.

Unfortunately the termites had worked their way into high Vatican circles, elected the liberal (Modernist?) Giacomo Cardinal della Chiesa who did much to undo Pius X's efforts against the Modernists, allowing that heresy to thrive somewhat secretly underground in high Church circles until it burst forth in all of its putrid evil at Vatican II.
