An ecumenical downtown prayer gathering has been organized to counter a satanic group's planned event at the Civic Center Music Hall.

The Unity Prayer Walk and Prayer Service is set for 6 p.m. Aug 15, with the walk to begin at the Jesus Wept statue on the grounds of St. Joseph Old Cathedral, continuing on to First United Methodist Church of Oklahoma City, where the service will be held.

Several faith leaders, including Oklahoma City Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, said the walk and prayer service are a unified response to the Dakhma of Angra Mainyu's black mass at the Civic Center, as well as other troubles occurring in the state, nation and around the globe.

Coakley recently issued a call for prayer to parishes throughout the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.
