Pope Francis is set to arrive Wednesday in Poland, but the homeland of Saint Pope John Paul II Francis most popular modern-day predecessor -- is not rolling out the red carpet for the pontiff whose social agenda has alienated many in the conservative nation. Francis will be in Krakow to celebrate World Youth Day, the event initiated more than 30 years ago by Pope John Paul II in which hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world gather. But unlike the favorite son the Eastern European nation sent to the Vatican, Francis has received a chilly reception.

Good for Poland!
Thank you Poland. Some sanity left in the world.
Ha! Beautiful.
Seems that Poop Francis is not very popular in Poland.
Good for Poland. This man doesn’t deserve the red carpet.
Shunning the Pointy Hatted One?
I like it.
I always said I would want to flee to Israel and Poland for courageous defense and security, or die trying.
The two last bastions of freedom, independence and religious liberty for Christians— Poland!
I would say that any former Warsaw Pact country is a safe bet.
Didn’t some king of Poland stop the muslim invasion?
King John Sobieski the III defeated the Ottomans at Vienna.

Poland once again recognizes danger where others do not.
Pope needs to be reminded of the priest in Normandy .
Make him stay in a Holiday Inn Express.
I read about a good trick to play in Rabelais Gargantua and Pantegreul. If we can get a bitch in heat and feed it well for two nights, then cut out that certain part and chop it real fine, then cause it to be scattered in the garments of the Jesuit, then all the male dogs for miles around will come to piss all over him. I hope a Pole reads this and gets on the project. It is a fine project. Would be an awesome sight.
I love the things I learn on this forum.
‘Francis has received a chilly reception.’
Of course. The World Youth Day in Kracow will hopefully attract one million young people. I have nephews who are going. Young people hate phonies and they see through Francis. Sad. Young people loved JP II and Benedict, since both were authentic men. Francis? Phony guy with a sweet job. The Jesuits have a lot of responsibility for the decreasing marriage and church attendance rates in the US.
Charming comments. /s
As a catholic (realtively conservative I would say) living in Poland I can tell that although we Polish catholics are fairly conservative and try to adhere to a true word of the scripture, the picture of a huge divide between the Polish church and the Pope is hugely exagerated. it probably results from the fact that foxnews article relies heavily on the article from “Gazeta Wyborcza” daily. The problem is that Gazeta Wyborcza is a radical liberal leftist church hating newspaper so if there is any difference of opinion between Vatican and Polish Episcopate it is willing to paint the picture of the Polish church being on the brink of a schism. Which is a complete rubbish. Although Pope Franics is not nearly as beloved as John Paul II (for obvious reasons) or even Benedict XVI (who was always viewed in Poland as John Pauls close friend and who was even capable of speaking polish pretty fluently) Polish catholic church has a long tradition of obedience towards Vatican and huge repect for the papacy. We may disagree on Francis social agenda and we will voice our opinion but we are still the part of the church. Also not all Polish bishops can be considered conservatives.
And then the title of the article “No red carpet treatment..” What is that supposed to mean? I can assure that all topgovernment officials, including President of Poland, Prime Minister etc. will be lining up to greet the Pope, attend Papal masses etc.
That accounts for the article's failure to emphasize the main reason the Poles are wary of Pope Francis: Francis’s foolish denial of the evils of Islam.
