I believe the spirit, if not the exact letter, of this explains it:

“Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to heed a warning.”—Ecclesiastes 4:13

Jesus did come into the world for judgment, so that the blind will see and those who see will turn out to be blind. Praise the Lord!

indeed, warnings (prophetic role) were a big part of the Checks and Balances the Jewish people tried to employ vis-a-vis evil or misguided kings

sometimes it worked
but
sometimes the kings did not heed the warnings

its an interesting account, actually
