Against a grim backdrop of rising suicide rates among American women, new research has revealed a blinding shaft of light: One group of women practicing Catholics appears to have bucked the national trend toward despair and self-harm.
Compared with women who never participated in religious services, women who attended any religious service once a week or more were five times less likely to commit suicide between 1996 and 2010, says a study published Wednesday by JAMA Psychiatry.
Its not clear how widely the findings can be applied to a diverse population of American women. In a study population made up of nurses and dominated by women who identified themselves as either Catholic or Protestant, the suicide rate observed was about half that for U.S. women as a whole. Of 89,708 participants aged 30 to 55, 36 committed suicide at some point over 15 years.

Lowest suicide = married, church going with children
Highest suicide = LGTB, no kids, no church
Conversely, mosque attendance increases suicide rate. Well, it is sort of suicide.
I don’t know. I’ve sat through some really long, boring sermons where I’m sure half the congregation wanted to either commit suicide or murder. ;-)
The undeserving recipients of Catholic privilege.
Bergoglio is trying to drive Catholics to despair and suicide, but apparently it isn’t working.

That’s what the culture - including religion - which envelops us is for - when our own internal controls and drives fail us, something external should be there to help guide and protect us - sadly, our cultural moorings are becoming so frayed and weakened that many people are left adrift and derelict these days......
Im pretty sure that’s a falsehood.
Slanderers, it is written, do not inherit the Kingdom. You may want to look that up, Father.

I wonder if someone has observed a reduced suicide risk in people who consistently practice works of charity. Yesterday at the Missionaries of the Poor, Brother Fidel observed that sharing one’s time, effort, and goods with the poor is like buying insurance against all sorts of bad outcomes. As Father Ho Lung says, “The call to serve Christ in the poor is an invitation to perfect happiness.”
Consider that people -— whether this reflects good judgment on their part or not -— take your words seriously.
It’s not just the Catholic religion but all NON PC Christian religions. It is the deep ingrained belief that taking one’s life is a SIN against GOD. Your body is His temple you are not to abuse it. I’d bet further research would bring to light that those with strong Christian morals and values don’t do drugs either for that simple reason.
Although Mass attendance rates reached as high as 75 percent in 1958, "the share of all Catholics who say they attend Mass at least once a week has dropped from 47% in 1974 to 24% in 2012; among “strong” Catholics, it has fallen more than 30 points, from 85% in 1974 to 53% last year," and is closer to Protestants at 24%. - http://www.pewforum.org/2013/03/13/strong-catholic-identity-at-a-four-decade-low-in-us/
A 2007 Pew survey reported that 9% of Catholics said they attended Mass more than once a week, and 33% once a week, while the highest in both categories was so-called "Jehovah's Witnesses" with 71% claiming they attend services more than once a week and 11% affirming they attend once a week, followed by Mormons at 31% for more than once a week, and 44% for once a week, after which are historically black churches at 30% and 29%, then evangelicals at 30% and 28%, respectively. - http://www.pewforum.org/files/2015/01/comparison-Frequency-of-Attendance-at-Religious-Services.pdf
In England and Wales 27.5% of Catholics reported attending Mass services a week or more. - http://faithsurvey.co.uk/catholics-england-and-wales.html

Lesbian teens are nearly five times more likely to attempt suicide than heterosexual girls, according to a 2003 survey presented at a national conference of public health experts in Vancouver Monday. B.C.-based McCreary Centre Society survey found 38 per cent of lesbian girls and 30.4 per cent of bisexual girls said they had attempted suicide in the previous year, compared with 8.2 per cent of heterosexual girls. Of course, as with cults who have the highest "church" attendance, believing a false gospel (as most Caths do) may give comfort now but sadly eternal discomfort later.
