The animal instinct in men is a slippery slope.
Tell your sons AND your daughters not to drink or do drugs.
That would take care of a lot life destroying actions.
Baylor
Is it not in Christ that man must work to control that animal instinct?
Read the story, that is what this person is saying. Control.
Certainly responsibility for rape belongs exclusively to the aggressor, possibly one who has been desensitized by years of cultural conditioning with it messages of sexual irresponsibility, hooking up, violence and “if it feels good do it.” A dehumanized culture produces many individual aberrant acts we ponder in terms of “what were they thinking?”
I did read the story but I didn’t see an emphasis on the part that alcohol and drugs play in many of these instances.
Most excellent.
This is what has to be taught.
The mentality that boys will be boys always leads to women being devalued
IF you had bothered to read all of this, then you would know that being ‘drunk’ was addressed on a much wider scale/
This is a very thoughtful letter and worth an entire read
Let me add:
I did read the story but I didnt see an emphasis, for BOTH sexes, on the part that alcohol and drugs play in many of these instances.
When , as in this letter’s example, it is the church elders telling you that boys will be boys and such behavior is shrugged off ( and no alcohol was involved), it is an offense to God and all of His creation
You apparently lack reading comprehension. The pint was very simple. It is not just alcohol thatch get one ‘drunk’. That part is VERY clear.
Irresponsible and criminal behavior comes from many things
It needs to be addressed to both women and men.
A woman shouldn’t hope that a man won’t take advantage of her because his parents raised him right. She needs to be taught to have her wits about her at all times. Especially at a frat party.
“I did read the story but I didnt see an emphasis, for BOTH sexes, on the part that alcohol and drugs play in many of these instances.”
No, rape is a one way street.
The males rapes and penatrates the female and not the other way around.
I agree that young women need to be raised well
But please don’t confuse this issue. The letter has a very specific example that does not deal with alcohol but does involve a church group
My reading comprehension is fine. As is my sense of reality.
Every time I read an article about sexual assault on college campuses, drug and alcohol use by both sexes are almost always involved.
But this article has a specific example....address that please
A drunk woman can’t defend herself. A sober one has a chance.
You read with your eyes but not with your heart.
