Oddly I am more hopeful now than in quite some time. This council has been a source of worry to many. Now it seems that much of the Orthodox world is waking up and saying “wait a minute, let’s do this right or not at all.” I would prefer the do it right option. But I am completely comfortable with just saying no, if that’s what it comes down to. There is no compelling reason to hold a Council. Unlike the Roman Catholic Church we don’t convene Great Councils, just so everyone can get together or to “modernize” the Church.
