Is the series audio?

Are there transcripts ?

I am severely hard of hearing.

To what does the “stone that builders rejected” refer here?

The Psalms

Psalm 118:22-24

22
The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
23
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.
24
The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.

The series appears to be audio-only (may have some Hebrew subtitles when he quotes a verse in the Holy Tongue.)

There are source documents downloadable for each class (as a link below the video.) These are usually Hebrew with English translation.

The “Stone that the builders rejected” is none other than David. (From Jewish rabbinical tradition) His father was himself unsure, after fathering 7 sons, if he was truly Jewish or if he was “blemished” because his grandmother was Ruth the Moabitess. So he planned (again, according to Jewish rabbinical tradition... the Talmud and the post-second-Temple rabbinical commentaries) he planned to marry his wife’s non-Jewish maid. Also through Jewish law, she would become Jewish and her offspring would be Jewish. So Yishai (Jesse) planned to start fresh with “kosher” or more to the point, not potentially-unkosher offspring. BUT the maid told her master, Jesse’s wife, father of the other 7, and the wife did the Rachel/Leah switcheroo.... she slipped into the marriage chamber and fathered an eighth son, David.. But the father and all the brothers assumed he was a bastard to an unfaithful mother!!

So in the Book of Samuel (1 Sam 16) Jesse does not bother to gather David with the rest of his sons.... Jesse doesn’t consider him a son! He left him tending sheep in the field.

So when Samuel finally sees David, the 8th, and G-d tells Samuel to “Arise, anoint him,” David (again, and I’m caveating for Christians— this is stock and trade Judaism 101 but I’m giving letting you know the rabbinical tradition) David’s mother utters the verse “The stone the builders rejected...” David replies, “From G-d is this, it is wondrous in our eyes...” And all say, “This is the day the L-rd made...” The entire family realizes that after 28 years the secret is revealed. David is Jewish, and a future king. Jesse is Jewish. Ruth was a complete Jewish convert.

But the class(es) deal with many, many more traditions surrounding the lineage of David and Ruth, and the truly miraculous way G-d brought the antecedents of Moshiach (Messiah) into the world. And I’ll add that the Jewish law is that the Messiah can come from any of the shoots of the trunk of Jesse..... and we Jews keep track. My next door neighbor is, father-to-son, a descendant of King David. I’ll keep my eye on him. (He is pretty charitable and learned.)

Have an outstanding day.
