Scrupulosity or Scruples has a particular meaning in Catholicism. It has nothing to do with wanting a return to ritual and tradition no matter how much this guy spins it.

Our Lord offers exceptional and amazing Graces to those who stick it out the end through thin and thinner. If you want to be fed by truth without silliness go to Latin Mass. Your son would enjoy serving that Mass.
It has nothing to do with expressing dismay at awful changes in the Church. It has to do with an unreasonable fear of self-sinfulness. A psychological condition that the Church recognized very early on in its history.
