This seems like a good cause, a new organization started by a friend of mine, Colonel Brian Sperling.

Ever since I took part in my first mission trip, over a decade ago in Zimbabwe, my heart for missions, for the homeless, and for the poor all over the world has grown.

My name is Brian Sperling, a career Army officer, and I have reached a time in my life and achieved a conviction where I am taking steps to do something more than I have been. I have moved 14 times in my 27-year career and have seen financial needs, ranging from efforts to improve local church conditions to programs such as "Feed my Starving Children" that reaches around the globe feeding orphans in third world countries.

I am starting up a non-profit organization aimed at helping local churches address individual struggles at the local and global level, I have named this organization 'Collectibles for Christ'.

Collectibles for Christ a non-profit organization that promotes charitable giving. Through a process of donations, auctions, consignments, and direct sales of memorabilia and collectibles, we turn tax deductible donor’s contributions into vital funding and aid for Christian organizations throughout the world in need of support. Our specialty is sports collectibles and memorabilia, but we plan to accept various types as we grow.

I got the idea when I tried to sell some of my own collectibles and realized that it was a pretty arduous and complicated process and difficult to get a fair value for your collectibles unless you knew how to work within the system. This organization will offer individuals the opportunity to quickly offload their collectibles and receive a fair market valued tax deduction while we do the work to sell the memorabilia for as much as possible with the profits going to Christian organizations in need.

I am just starting the process for non-taxable nonprofit status, so we haven't started taking donations yet. We are establishing a web-site and initial marketing campaign. As with all businesses, even the non-profit ones have startup costs.

Your donations will help me get this organization off the ground quicker, and would be greatly appreciated.
