The Beautiful Reasons Why These Women Love Wearing A Hijab
Huffington Post ^ | 05/11/2016 | Yasmin Nouh

The New York Times recently published a “guide“ to Muslim headscarves. The article intended to illuminate an Islamic concept that promotes modesty, but the associated images showed styles specific to a few countries and all of the silhouettes were faceless. These types of portrayals can contribute to a misperception among some that Muslim women who don the headscarf may lack agency.

In today’s political climate, the headscarf has become more than just a spiritual symbol of modesty. At one point, women working in government positions were not allowed to wear it in Turkey. In France, the niqab — a version of the headscarf that covers the face — is banned. In the field of counterterrorism, some view the headscarf as a manifestation of extremism. And as the number of Islamophobic attacks continues to rise in the United States so, too, does the fear among Muslim women, especially those who wear hijab, that they’ll be victims of violence.

The media is promoting the Muslim religion.

Christians and particularly Catholics are continually attacked for being anti-women. But the Muslims and their burkas, female genital mutilation, honor killings, rapes, etc. are portrayed as being sympathetic to women.

Next there will be censorship, where even posts on a message board are edited to remove comments that do not meet the standards of the Ministry of Truth?

As a woman with lots of “bad hair” days sometimes they seem like a good idea. :-)

That's because that's what their society is like so they think everyone else is like that too.

They don't understand civilized men because they didn't grow up with any.

I don't fear muslim women covering themselves. I am concerned about men posing as women and where that could lead because under that covering, NOBODY knows who or what is under it.

The Muslim world again trying to misconstrue something forced on women as something women like.

Incredible how oppression can be excused. Let's see Muslim men walk around wearing a freakin' bag over their head all day, see how much they like walking around sweating their brains out while they can barely breathe because that's exactly what these "Hijabs" represent, they are mini burkas.

"But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors her head—it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her wear a veil.
"For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. (For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.) That is why a woman ought to have a veil on her head, because of the angels....If any one is disposed to be contentious, we recognize no other practice, nor do the churches of God." (1 Corinthians 11:3-10,16)

It is the tradition of the old Church, and many denominations today, for women to wear head scarves. It's in scripture.

The Church states:
The moral law requires all women to wear the veil on their hearts.
A woman should not wear the veil on her head, until she is wearing it first on her heart.

I'm not saying you're wrong concerning censorship, or that Islam is beyond criticism, but head scarfs are harmless and an actual effort to become closer to God. Burkas and genital mutilation, however...

The hijab doesn’t bother me as such. I find it no more offensive than orthodox Jewish women and there dress codes, or fundamentalist/evangelical Christians and there dress codes, or LDS or Amish etc etc

What I am bothered by is that ‘moderate’ Muslims do nothing to condemn terrorism unless it is to say something nasty about Israel. They do not condemn the horrific stuff that sharia law requires. They will not defend the Constitution and its concepts.

They bitch and complain and want acceptance but they will not assimilate

According to the un-Holy Quran the reason for veils is because men will go crazy rape any woman that shows a bit of fore head. The veil is because women should be afraid of men

Thanks for posting this. As Christians, we need to evangelize. The media is hypocritical and without any standard other than it will promote anything to advance the progressive agenda. It is not logical. It is power driven. We need to stop complaining and get out there and speak the truth.
