This number is alarming. It’s not like the Lancet to get this sort of thing wrong - even demonstrating a pro-abortion slant all these years.
1/4 of children yearly is a STARK number. I mean, there must be a concerted effort somewhere on the planet to simply abort every child in a specific region of the world.
Because abortion here is rampant, but I can’t begin to imagine that 1 in 4 women that are walking the streets is even an approachable number.
Maybe 1 in 40 . And if this statistic is true, then somewhere is a whole nation (Or several) where women just get abortions.
Your number is much too conservative, and doesn’t take into account that a significant percent of women have multiple abortions. Leftist organizations view abortion as their highest sacrament and work to force it into every culture and every level of society. Even counting the proper use of contraceptives, there is no way that any society could approach the birth rates of western nations without widespread abortion.
It’s either that, or the homosexual population is exponentially larger than even Hollywood portrays.
Can you imagine that 1 in 4 women you meet have had sex outside marriage? That's where most abortions come from.
It's incredible how few people "emotionally" associate abortion with fornication, but (in Europe and America) that's nearly the whole incidence.
I don’t think I buy it either. But I don’t know.
Not to say there haven’t been places in the modern era where worse has happened locally. Russia had an abortion rate of 280 abortions per 100 live births in the early 90s, according to what I have seen. It didn’t get to 100 abortions per 100 live births until the mid 2000s, if I recall. In 2012 it was down to 42 per 100 live births. In 2003 US there were 24 per 100 live births, if I recall. I think for Russia they might actually had easier access to abortion than modern birth control, but that could be wrong.
If it is 1 in 4 than all those 3rd world countries must not be having as many kids as they always say they are. I don’t know.
