Five months after Scientology was banned in the Russian Federation, authorities have arrested a member of the sect for stealing 130 million rubles, and donating the money to the "church."

In November 2015, a court in Moscow backed Russian Justice Ministry claims that the Church of Scientology did not comply with federal law, as it used its trademark for financial gain.

"The representatives of the Church of Scientology have created many legal conflicts by themselves by restricting the religious freedom through the use of trademarks," the Ministry of Justice said.

The Church vowed to appeal, but a high-profile incident has given the Russian government little reason to reconsider their stance.

Do they have laws in Russia regarding receiving stolen goods?

(Good thing I caught my spelling error or this thread would have been inundated with pictures of baked goods.)

I wonder how far this will go. Will there be further investigations? Will there be a discovery phase that gives a legal colonoscopy to Scientology? They certainly deserve it. At the least, David Miscavige deserves to be locked up.

Scientology has already been banned in Russia as a criminal organization.

Would that make John Travolta and Tom Cruise apostles?

I was perusing an older thread from 2005 you posted on Scientology.

If it is ok, I would like to pose a question that has always bugged me about the origins of Scientology and how anyone could be sucked in.

Let me know if you are amenable and I'll post the question. Or in a private Freepmail if you prefer.

The fact that she stole this money from people is more important than who she gave it too. She could have given it to a real church and she should still be arrested.

Scientology has already been banned in Russia as a criminal organization.

And if so, would the Russians pursue additional legal action against it? It could open up a can of worms that would choke the organization. Something the US authorities don't have the guts to do.

I thought saints were suppose to give up their worldly goods, and wares, etc. So this kinda fulfills that point, right? /sarc

If the question hasn’t already been asked and answered on that thread, by all means ask it there.

That way everyone can benefit from it.
