A year ago, when the death of Freddie Gray and resulting unrest in Baltimore filled the news, the Rev. Kathy Dwyer felt she had to do something.
“Every time I turned on the TV, I just felt like I was getting punched in the gut from watching the issue of racism just escalate in our country,” said the white pastor of a predominantly white United Church of Christ congregation in Arlington, Va.
In the wake of the continuing deaths of African-Americans at the hands of police officers, some white church leaders say they can no longer check off their racial-justice to-do list by hosting a Black History Month event. Instead, they are holding workshops that address white privilege – not experiencing or knowing the unfair treatment endured by nonwhites.
Dwyer’s church started a yearlong racial justice conversation and posted a Black Lives Matter sign that was vandalized. More than 40 members began reading books such as “The New Jim Crow” and “Between the World and Me” to better understand white privilege. And they invited people of color to speak at “sacred suppers” about their personal experiences with discrimination....

“White privilege” is a racist concept used by racists to smear Caucasians and deny the legitimacy of their achievements in life. It is also an attempt to justify state sponsored persecution. For at least the last 20 years there has been “White disadvantage” in hiring and promotion, as well as academic admissions (except females). If you’re Caucasian and someone starts lecturing you about “White privilege” today, you’ve just been given the equivalent of a black man being called “nigger.” Respond accordingly.
O has been stoking the fires of racism from his very first weeks in office. The Great Divider. Not only has he done more damage to our country than any president in our lifetime, but he’s shafted “ black Americans” the most. (But that’s something he never was anyway ...)
Two signs that you’re going to the wrong church:
1. The Pastor’s first name is “Kathy”.
2. Pastor Kathy is preaching on “white Privilege”.

Maybe “Rever’n Kathy” should base her teachings on the bible and not left-wing books.
Maybe “Rever’n Kathy” isn’t up to shepherding a Godly flock?

“The stuff that’s hidden below the surface is bigger and more powerful and more dangerous than the stuff we can see above the waters,” said Nath, who is white, and who works with Platts, a black woman, in the Mennonite-based group Roots of Justice.
Is this what's going on in 'churches'? Apparently, teaching God's salvation is out of style.

The more I see complaints about white privilege and white supremacy, the more they look like envy and jealousy of white responsibility and white achievement.

I would venture to guess, that a congregation that is infinitely more concerned with people's skin color, isn't really interested in being saved by anything, let alone the Grace of God.
A “United Church of Christ” in Arlington, VA (a/k/a the southern half of DC) and a Unitarian “Church” in Washington (a/k/a the northern half of DC)?
Sounds like a group of leftist radicals, not a trend among churches.

Ah, but the UCC prides itself on being “progressive.” Biblical teaching is to be manipulated and reinterpreted into completely different meanings.

This will only hinder those that are covetous of the fruits of discipline, responsibility, study, etc.
There is no substitute that will give what they seek, so they seek to take it by coersion and/or force.
No, churches do not hold classes on white privilege. Progressive social clubs hold classes on white privilege.
I visited a UCC church a couple years ago. The pamphlets and banners that I saw while exploring the facility made me feel spiritually unsafe. I won’t call it demonic, but I wouldn’t rule it out either. The UCC is not a church.
