But I have never believed her disappearance was something negative; it only occurred because she had fulfilled her purpose - to give birth to the Messiah. That's the way I read the NT.
And the Book of Esther; too.
Esther 4:14
And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.
Additions to Esther
An additional six chapters appear interspersed in Esther in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Bible. This was noted by Jerome in compiling the Latin Vulgate. Additionally, the Greek text contains many small changes in the meaning of the main text. Jerome recognized the former as additions not present in the Hebrew Text and placed them at the end of his Latin translation as chapters 10:416:24. However, some modern Catholic English Bibles restore the Septuagint order, such as Esther in the NAB.[28]
These additions include:[29]
- an opening prologue that describes a dream had by Mordecai
- the contents of the decree against the Jews
- prayers for God's intervention offered by Mordecai and by Esther
- an expansion of the scene in which Esther appears before the king, with a mention of God's intervention
- a copy of the decree in favor of the Jews
- a passage in which Mordecai interprets his dream (from the prologue) in terms of the events that followed
- a colophon appended to the end, which reads: In the fourth year of the reign of Ptolemy and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who said he was a priest and Levite, and his son Ptolemy brought the present letter of Purim, saying that it was genuine and that Lysimachus, son of Ptolemy, of the community of Jerusalem, had translated it.

from the article.....”The word evangelical has become almost meaningless this year”......
It’s been moving that direction for several years now. The emerging church has basically hijacked the term and now means something else entirely.

You do know those tongues were foreign languages....right???? Some of them.
The Book that Rome assembled for us also states:
1 Corinthians 14:2
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit.

Is that RSV, NAS, NIV, or??
What is the way they finish the verse?

That is no proof text that tongues is not a human earthly language.
There are a WHOLE TON of human languages spoken on this earth that if someone spoke in tongues in, I would not understand them.

....”Once you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues”.....
That is a doctrinal Charismatic teaching.
When we receive Christ as our Savior we are filled with His Spirit.....Born again of His Spirit..... It is not a separate event. Glossolalia is not required as evidence of Salvation nor of the filling of His Spirit as often taught in Charismatic churches.

....”You do not “choose” to receive the Holy Spirit”....
That’s right. It does appear often in Charismatic churches that they do teach that though. Often their doctrines encircle the “gifts” rather than the giver. I think the scriptures tells us the Corinthian church needed correction for their misuse of the gifts as well.....and why many were still considered carnal. They relied on the gifts rather than faith.

The Apostles were given special gifts to speak in the various peoples language in order to spread the Gospel message early on....it was not an unknown undefinable language. Also they didn’t need âevidenceâ for the Lord had been seen by many after the Resurrection as well as when he ascended into heaven...... On Pentecost they were gathered there by “faith”....they believed what Jesus had told them.

Heck; there is plenty of EVIDENCE in this thread; as well as many others; that some folks can't even READ something and understand it without a large religious organization 'explaining' it to them!

Why is it that so MANY folks glomb onto stuff that they think is REQUIRED??
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
1 John 3:21-23
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Dang it!
You’ve GOT to be baptized! (and a certain way; too!)
You’ve GOT to be a tongue talker!
You’ve GOT to be a member of the Only True Church!
You’ve GOT to be a very NICE person!
You’ve GOT to be circumsized!
You’ve GOT to be un-tattooed!
You’ve GOT to be fond of the RIGHT kind of music!
You’ve GOT to be a non-dancer!
You’ve GOT to be ________________
....and THEN we’ll consider you to be; possibly; maybe; partly...
...a Christian.

Either one of you care to rationalize the disparity of your views, or maybe try to justify sola scriptura.

You're probably aware that the "evangelical" label includes people who are poles apart on the distinctives that identify ones religious preferences.
A fundamental indpendent Baptist constituent and a female ordained United Methodist minister are not going to have much in common, in almost any area of life.

I’ve already posted Scripture to support my comments.
Since no Scripture has been forthcoming from anyone else, then you cannot make the claim that the disparity of views is because of adherence to Scripture alone.
Your post is a fail then in your attack on sS.
