In the Old Testament, God often abandoned the Hebrews to their enemies, as punishment for their disobedience to Him. Perhaps God is treating us Catholics the same way. If so, we need to fast and pray. Lent is a good time to start.
Why would you feel abandoned by a pope you don't like? Jesus NEVER abandons us, not for a nanosecond. Your faith is in JESUS, not in ANY mere mortal man.
But you already KNOW that.
The Catholic Church survived through some bad popes. It will survive a pope you don't like. It will survive until our good Lord ends it all.
But you know all this, doncha?
