Pope Francis will visit Sweden in October for a joint ecumenical commemoration of the start of the Reformation, it has been announced.
Francis will be joined for the commemoration by leaders of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and representatives of other Christian Churches on October 31 in the Swedish city of Lund, a press release, released today by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (PCPCU) and the LWF, has confirmed.
Pope Francis, LWF President Bishop Dr Munib Younan and General Secretary Rev Dr Martin Junge will lead the Ecumenical Commemoration in cooperation with the Church of Sweden and the Catholic Diocese of Stockholm.
The joint ecumenical event takes place ahead of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 and will include a common worship based on the recently published Catholic-Lutheran "Common Prayer", a liturgical guide to help churches commemorate the Reformation anniversary together.

So Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the door of the church in Lund, Sweden?
Not sure that they came to any realization, other than the popularity of publicly adopting a “big tent” posture. But there’s always hope.

And we’ve still got Catholics defending this right?
