Yes; I think that would be the only advantage — if you can call it an advantage. I’ve seen more than enough church member skirmishes in voting situations, being a preacher’s kid. My uncles were preachers, too, so Dad and uncles would discuss their respective churches’ infighting when we all got together.

Now, we find a church we like and we attend until we don’t like it, and then find a better fit. I refuse to stir up trouble; it’s just sickening what “Christians” will do to gain and/or retain some measure of power in a church environment. I’ll have none of it.

Church isn’t about being a big fish in a small pond.

And yet, I do see that happen in some churches. Some people just have to be in charge and churches can be safe places for a very dominant personality to take charge.

Then they can throw their weight around and force people into capitulating using Scripture.

That’s not going to end well for them.
