Destroying religious statues and icons is a righteous act under Islam.
âChurches vandalised and statue of the Virgin Mary beheaded in âextremistâ attacks,â By Chris Riches, Express, Jan 8, 2016:
DETECTIVES are hunting vandals who targeted two churches, beheading statues of Joseph and the Virgin Mary.
Twelve window panes at historic St Chadâs Church in the Lancashire town of Poulton-le-Fylde were smashed last week, just two months after they were repaired.
The vandals then turned on the churchâs outdoor Nativity scene, decapitating a statue of the Virgin Mary and stealing the head.
Within 24 hours, churchgoers at Poulton Methodist Church were shocked to find their 3ft-tall outdoor Nativity statue of Joseph had also been beheaded.
The congregations of both churches fear the attacks may have been the work of anti-Christian extremists. Robert Sly, verger at St Chadâs, said: âItâs very disappointing especially because the windows had just been refurbished.
We wouldnât like any building to be vandalised but obviously the church is a special place for us
Robert Sly, verger at St Chadâs
âWe spent around £13,500 on them. We have no idea how much it will cost to repair the damage.
âThe screen in front of our Nativity scene was smashed and the Virgin Mary had her head knocked off.
âNormally we donât have problems with vandalism. We wouldnât like any building to be vandalised but obviously the church is a special place for us.â
The churchâs windows had only recently been repaired
At Poulton Methodist Church, the vandals smashed a thick window of protective acrylic glass to gain access to the religious display. Church steward May Gandhi, 69, said: âWe are all extremely upset because we are trying our very best to make the place look nice. But we canât stop people walking through the church so thereâs really nothing we can do.
âThe statue cost £135 to buy. What a shame it will be if we canât have another Nativity next year.â
The church had recently spent £13,500 repairing them
St Chadâs is first mentioned in a document of 1094 but there could well have been a church on the same spot in Saxon times.
The church is dedicated to an Anglo Saxon bishop who died in 627 AD. Vicar Martin Keighley said yesterday: âWe will not let the vandals win. We are looking to replace the statue of the Virgin Mary and make sure the crib is repaired and the Nativity scene is there again next year. We will put the church to rights and make sure everything is as it should be.â
A police spokesman said: âAn unknown offender used a hammer-type weapon to smash windows in the church at around 10.30pm on December 29. The suspect is a white male in a black jacket.â
We are lectured how they love Mary even more than Jesus....
it’s a dimestore god that is threatened by statues and cartoons.
Muslims, leftists, or atheists. Take your pick.
They love death more than anything!
Happy Holidays from the commander in chief.
Iconoclast Protestants
Gaia worshiping atheists
Sodomites
Satanists
Islamist
I'm thinking it was someone from the last three choices. I don't think Iconoclast Protestants are around anymore, and this doesn't seem to fit the mode of the Gaia types. I'm not sure if we will ever hear who was the culprit.
Way past time to return the favor, methinks the Kabba would make a good test target for a “bunker buster” for starters ...
Sounds like a hate crime.
Where is this city?
New immigrants?
Good post.
Step 2: Organize the defense
Step 3: Attack the threat
We're not even close to admitting the threat exists, even though it is in our face screaming at us to be recognized. Will I stand armed to protect my church ? You bet.
Then they need to be given what they love.
And this is the sacred stone in the box which they kiss that looks like a female body part ...
Is in Germany. All I know.
Yes.
Well they did it peacefully!
That kind of thing comes around every Christmas.
Well, it has been in my lifetime. The Christmas season seems to bring out the BEST in people ... and, in too many cases, the WORST.
I have never called vandalism peaceful.
