“the Pope’s political views”
I live in Orange County, CA, there are a lot of Vietnamese immigrants, and American born Vietnamese. The story I hear, continuously, for the last ten years has been that Vietnam never experienced a diaspora, like that which occurred after “the communists came” (i.e. 1975). Word got back that the same people, living overseas, in freedom, prospered, while those that remained behind, suffered in abject poverty.
The screws have been loosened, across the board, economically; Vietnam is a large exporter of rice, and the per capita income has risen, dramatically. This relative freedom has resulted in some level of reform, in many other areas. While I am sure the current Pontiff has an appeal to hard core communists, the news I am hearing out of VN is very encouraging. The American style of life was setback, to be sure, but the average Ho realizes that they never had it better, than the Republic of VN, while Uncle Sam was their benefactor.
Thank you.
I wish nothing but the best for the Christians of that country.
and I hope the screws are loosening.
communism is a failed prospect. can never succeed. God didn’t build us that way
