How can that *ruin*one’s love for Christmas...unless that love was based on some earthly, hedonistic attitude?

She’s an idiot to begin with, so what else would we expect of her?

She’s an unstable lunatic. Hence, a democrat.

The only FNC blonde bimbo that makes Perino look slightly smart by comparison.

I don’t care for her because of her politics, but this piece was nicely done.

Christmas season morphed from being a time I savored into something I tried to survive each year. Santa Claus, Christmas trees, the holiday jingles--they all felt like pagan oppression.

I really respect Powers. I have watched her punditry and commentary slowly but surely change. It has been a joy to watch this transformation.

Great article.

People like this lady receive income for their essays and appearances. That raises the interesting issue as to how much their true beliefs are distorted in order to make a sale.

Much good in that article.

Christmas is about Christ, not 'santa claus'.

Shortly after I made that declaration, I started dating a guy who mentioned, in passing, that he attended a Presbyterian church.

She probably changed all his radio station and stole his Jesus fish.

Her mind is being renewed - give it time. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal to her what she said here - God became Flesh to be the Savior of Mankind.

I’ll know she’s progressing much further when she leaves the Abortion Party.

Kirsten Powers: Becoming a Christian Ruined My Love of Christmas

Lousy headline and totally misleading from the contents as written by Ms Powers - perhaps done for shock value. Note that this is not a new article freshly written but instead; " ... adapted from The Christmas Virtues: A Treasury of Conservative Tales for the Holidays (Templeton Press)."

What Ms Powers actually articulates is that she has lost her 'love' of the commercial Christmas and moved to the appreciation of the Christ-centered Christmas. A very logical step for one who has become a Believer!

This is the pertinent paragraph from this adapted article; "But then I realized that I had allowed the secular celebrations of Christmas to crowd out its transcendent meaning. As theologian N. T. Wright points out, it's Christmas that is the moment when God launched a "divine rescue mission" of humankind."

God didn’t just condescend to come to earth as a human. He came as a helpless infant. The King of Kings was born amid barnyard animals and piles of hay after His lowly parents were turned away from better lodgings. …
They were not turned away from anywhere. Caesar Augustus had caused chaos by his census, resulting in all returning to their birth city; so the inn was full to the brim already.

I hope she means “the secular” Christmas which has been watered down, distorted, bastardized, and de-Christianized to the point of absurdity.

If you read and digest the article, you will find it insightful, inspirational and quite beautiful. Some people will pre-judge the article because she is an avowed liberal. If those people read the article unaware of the author, they would have a more open mind and would be willing to see it for what it is.

Powers' brain power is low-octane to begin with despite the always-neat Fox blond touch.

She states she found Jesus because of the man she's living with.

We'll see which lasts the longest, her epiphany or her boyfriend.

She was married to a professor of Coptic Egyptian ethnicity. They divorced after only three years. She also dated Anthony Weiner for a year prior to the public revelation he exposed some private things on the web.

BTW, speaking of Kirsten's paid writing effort, is there ANY pundit, anchor, or regular guest on the tube that ISN'T promoting on TV a commercial bio or heart-tugging publication of some kind right now?

I confess Powers turgid gushings only inspired me to get off the computer and make lunch.

Ahh, the Episcopal Church strikes again. At a time when Ms. Powers was searching for answers and at the same time her own beloved Father is also searching for answers from a church that has dashed headlong into apostasy and outright heresy, both are morally and spiritually wounded. I am thankful God’s loving, healing grace was and is being revealed to Ms. Powers and I pray this same grace is or will be revealed to her father. Hopefully, God will use her to reach her father as well. God bless them both.

She would be even better off if she re-examined her
politics in light of her religious rebirth. It may
not lead her directly to conservatism but it might
redirect her from Democrat evil.
