In his Sunday Angelus address Pope Francis commended world leaders for reaching an agreement in the recently-concluded Paris climate talks, urging the international community promptly put it into action.
"The conference on climate has just concluded in Paris with the adoption of an agreement, defined by many as historic," the Pope said Dec. 13.
Implementing the plan, he said, will require "a concerted and generous commitment on the part of each one," and expressed his hope that the agreement will give special attention to the most vulnerable.
The Vatican's Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin was one of leaders representing 150 nations present for the Nov. 30-Dec. 11 discussions of the COP-21 summit on climate change in Paris, aimed at finding legally binding reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and holding global average temperatures under a two degrees Celsius increase over preindustrial global temperatures.
The new deal holds that global greenhouse gas emissions will be cut by half of what is needed to prevent an increase in atmospheric temperatures of two degrees Celsius, according to the New York Times.
The agreement also requires that every country participate, putting forward their own plan to cut carbon emissions through 2025-2030. Countries will also be legally required to meet every five years beginning in 2023 in order to publicly report on their progress compared to their plans.
In his comments, Pope Francis exhorted the entire international community "to promptly continue the path taken, as a sign of solidarity which becomes ever more active."

Is the Pope Catholic?
Good question. If I were a Catholic, I’d tell my parish priest I was taking action by earmarking my usual year-end donation to Catholic Charities to pay my increased taxes imposed by the false religion of climate change which Pope Frank was backing.
Dear pope. God is in charge. Not cop21. Sheesh. Who elected this guy anyway.
Just as an aside, how it looks inside the Swiss Guard Arms room. Maybe some of these items will stem the tide. So to speak.
Following the religion of Solyndra will lead to you burning in hell, Francis.
I’m hoping he gets kicked out the door, personally. The things he is doing at best have nothing to do with the Catholic Church and at worst directly conflict with or even attack Catholic doctrine.
This guy needs to go Pope his own and stay quiet on the Climate Control religeon.
Shut up, Frank.
I’m all for the environment being preserved and kept clean.
But, at this time, “global warming” appears to me to just
mostly be the “Look, Look, Look! Look at that squirrel!”
issue this administration is using for distraction.
What ever happened to that “Ice Age” that was on the way
just a few short years ago? All those magazines and
politicians “in the know” (Al Gore for one, I think) were
spouting that.
Tell this Fool there was NO agreement ,it was just an Environmental Hug Fest
No, but I heard he is “Running Wild with Bare Girls”.
I’m convince the Pope doesn’t even believe in God.
I’m not surprised at all; it’s par for him.
Humble Jorge has abused Our Lady’s latest two feast days for U.N. secular issues.
On the former, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, he allowed St. Peter’s Basilica to be defiled by an outrageous light show pushing the “global warming” hoax.
And on the latter, the Feast of Our Lady Guadalupe, he announced he’ll “celebrate” a border crossing Mass at the Tex-Mex border fence in obvious support of illegal immigration.
A not very bright Catholic, unfortunately. He*s no Pope Benedict XVI or Pope John Paul II.
He doesn*t have an academic background and he seems to be very Argentinian.
Dear Pope Francis,
Mankind is INCAPABLE of impacting the climate.
This meeting was simply another tool to send American tax dollars to Tyrants around the globe.
You should know that it will also be used to promote VERY anti-Catholic objectives such as;
Population Control
Abortion
Euthanasia
Contraception
Political oppression by limiting the energy development necessary to raise people from poverty.
That energy would be used for clean water and agriculture.
So, I recommend that you fire whoever persists in feeding the lies regarding manmade climate change.
