That was always my understanding.
I can’t find fault with anything you wrote and I most certainly agree with you that, “It is God who opens the heart.”
God bless.
My precious DrO was in practice with one Orthodox Jew and one rather nominal Jew and of course my husband was a very devout Catholic. Those three never had a religious argument in their almost 40 years and they were entirely respectful of both religions, allowing the religious symbols to decorate the offices etc. The vast majority of patients loved it and participated. I think those who didn’t were told to go elsewhere ... lol.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
seems to recommend other wise.
I don’t agree.
Christianity should not seek to teach Jews right from wrong. They should know that in the Law of God. Neither should it ever force conversions. But since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, all need a payment bigger than themselves: Jesus Christ, our substitute.
Your choice to not agree. But Unless Jews are not part of ALL then you will have a hard time making a logical argument.
Believe as you will.
Romans 11:... 25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:
"The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this is my covenant with them
when I take away their sins."
28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of Godâs mercy to you. 32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
...
1 Corinthians 9: 10 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: âThe people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry." ...
Take it easy.
Thank you for that thoughtful & serious Christian reply with which I agree completely, but I was only trying to inject a little levity.
Those words were sung by Tomas de Torquemada as played by Mel Brooks. A Jewish friend asked me wasn’t I offended when the Grand Inquisitor commanded, “Send in the nuns!!”
Hahahahahahaaaaaa!
Why? This is ANOTHER thread about a subject that COMPLETELY goes against Scripture. Why anyone who claims to be Christians would suggest that Jews do not need Christ is completely IGNORANT of God's plan!
Take it easy? Never! As long as such balderdash is posted as anything approaching being correct, it is our DUTY to preach the Gospel to EVERYONE. ALL HAVE SINNED... that includes Jews (for Reference, see the BIBLE!)!
This is just more provocative nonsense from indoctrinated Catholics. It is anathema to Jesus' purpose on Earth!
You have your beliefs. That’s fine. Go with God.
.. and obviously, you feel exempt from the rule that we don't take things from thread to thread.
If you don't want controversy, don't post such anti-Scriptural tripe... or try and answer with Scripture to confirm this thread's premise... which cannot be found anywhere!
He lives in me! I can't leave home without Him!
So, the Scriptures I posted have no effect against this claim by your Pope?
Hi Tri
Please read Romans Chapters 9 through 11.
I think it’s a bit more complicated than some of the sound bites we’re reading.
Bingo. PLUS, when he says fishers of men, he doesn't mean dynamite fishing. Some like fly-fishing or "trout-tickling."
Thanks, xzins.
I have my beliefs. You have yours.
Imagine!
Peter preaching to JEWS on Pentecost.
Paul entering every synagogue to preach to JEWS first.
Now, after 2,000 years, we find they were wrong.
No, wait...
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:6
