The need to pray for the pope has never been clearer than it is now. We can criticize, for sure, and I’m one of his biggest critics. But I was in St. Peter’s Basilica with him the night he announced the Year of Mercy. He passed no more than 10 feet from me. And what I saw that night was a man who needed my prayers, not my judgment. Whenever I feel the temptation to criticize him I try to remember that precisely because he’s not up to the job (and who is?) he needs our fervent prayers.
The article asks a good question, but having met many, many, absolutely incredible African Christ followers, I believe they will see through the B.S. the Pope is somehow becoming the mouthpiece for....the believing Africans are very discerning and some Americans could take a lesson or two from them.
