Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Character Studies From The Bible

Paul

8. In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. 9. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10. and called out, Stand up on your feet! At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.

11. When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, The gods have come down to us in human form! 12. Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them.

14. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15. Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. 16. In the past, he let all nations go their own way. 17. Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. 18. Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowd from sacrificing to them.

19. Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. 20. But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe. .

(Acts 14)

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Bless the LORD,
Oh My Soul,
and let All That is Within Me Bless His Most Holy Name!
Abba, Father,
We Praise and Worship You,
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
As the Nations Rage So Furiously Against You,
And Against Your People,
We Know That You Are Our Shelter,
Our Strength and our Song,
Our Refuge in Times of Trouble,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The temptation to accept worship from other humans is as old as mankind. It continues to this day, with rock stars, Hollywood personalities, politicians, and celebrities. There seems to be an innate craving of human beings to worship SOMETHING, and it is always easier to worship something visible or tangible.

Paul and Barnabas were horrified that the miracles performed by the Holy Spirit through them caused some people to turn to them in worship rather than to the One True God. I am grateful that this incident was recorded for all posterity in the Book of Acts, as it shows us the right and wrong way to respond to religious leaders. Even when their message is 100% correct, we must never fasten our faith upon the messenger, but upon the One behind the Message.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Numbers 6: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them: The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness];The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval],And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’ 27 So Aaron and his sons shall put My name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

And this we do and proclaim and agree in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Good message, left that other site

Earlier in Acts, Herod accepted the praise that he was a god...and was eaten by worms.
