Francis’s first one or two or three appointments in America were leftovers from Benedict. After that, Francis’s appointment in the U.S. and around the world have been uniformly, absolutely STINKERS. He has “reached down” into countries, especially in the Spanish-speaking world, ignoring the candidates suggested by the nuncios, “and picked the worst priests he could find,” according to an account I read last year.
Pollyannas point to a passage here, a sentence there, in which they purport to see evidence that Francis is “pro-life,” or “traditional.”
Phooey. Like many bishops, Francis can give a rip-roaring pro-life speech to a pro-life audience—as he did just days ago in Rome.
But his appointments are all anti-pro-life, leftist, homosexualists. By his fruits you shall know him.

In all seriousness, does the archbishop not regard the act of the Incarnation and even more so the expiatory death of Christ as the supreme act of “condescension?” God taking on human form and taking on our sins? The mercy offered by the Church is God’s mercy, not the archbishop’s; all are in need of it.
