Men need to step forth and change this. Volunteer to be a lector, an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, etc.

And we need to stop the practice of altar girls and have only acolytes from fourth grade through college.

I see that now in the Filipino community, for decades they held many of the churches together, especially in the inner city. They would lead devotions and would be active in the many religious events.

Now that their children have married and moved on, I no longer see Filipino’s under the age of 40 active in their parish. Most don’t attend mass at all. Divorce rates are higher.
