I do take issue with #2. The biggest ally of the Turks were the Catholic kings of France, who operated on the principle that the enemy of their enemy (The Holy Roman Empire) was their friend and had secret alliances with the Turks. They refused to send troops to fight them and tried to take advantage of the situation to grab territory.
