**Paul VI got rid of the Ember days and the no-fish-on-Fridays. Now we are hurting as a culture.**

No, this is not true. There are still Ember days and fish on Friday was never changed. It’s just free-wheeling bishops who have done this.

You're half right. Prior to Paul VI, Ember Days and Friday abstinence were universally obligatory.

But, like the Mass, Paul decided to mix things up.
