Pray for our American Heroes
September 12, 2015 | Irish Rose

Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat –
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
(Psalm 127:1-2)

Father God, as summer cools into fall, we thank You for the change of seasons, and for the beauty and pleasures of each one.

Father, we acknowledge that it is You who have kept our home safe from terrorist attacks these past fourteen years, for unless You watch over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. We thank You for this mercy, and we pray for those who even now stand guard over our country. Give them and their work the blessing that only You can.

O LORD, in vain we build – unless You also build. In vain we stand guard and watch – unless You also watch. In vain we rise early and stay up late, toiling for our daily bread – for You grant sleep to those You love. We praise You, that You alone are the true Builder, that You alone are our shield and defense, that You are the Giver of our daily bread and of our rest. We bring our lives and our hearts to You, that we may work as You will and dwell forever beneath Your wings, in the Name of Jesus Christ who prays for us, Amen.
