We had a somewhat aggressive approach to getting people removed from membership roles when I lived in Alaska. It had nothing to do with money gived, but with lack of attendance.

They had two issues. First, it was a very transient society, many members were in the military or related to oil business. Lots of families simply moved away without notifying the church. Secondly, the apportionment payment to national church (Methodist) were based upon membership roles. Essentially we were “charged” per member. If they were not attending church, we didn’t want the expense. Always multiple attempts to contact the folks first, but often they were not found and simply dropped.

I don’t think that was the case in this article.

quite a few churches have membership as a requirement
to use church facilities,etc. NO ONE has published the
letter that was sent- I for one would like to see it-

Something smells fishy, know one at her “church”
knew she was sick?- no contact for months?

I think they are TRYING to paint churches as heartless-
