Syrian, Iraqi Prelates Charge US Discriminates Against Christian Refugees in Visa Process

Catholic prelates from Iraq and Syria charged that US immigration officials are discriminating against Christian refugees from the Middle East.

Speaking in Philadelphia to the national convention of the Knights of Columbus (KofC), Archbishops Bashar Warda of Erbil, Iraq, and Jean-Clement Jeanbart of Aleppo reported that only a tiny number of Christian refugees have been approved for visas to come to the US; Muslim refugees have been approved at a significantly higher rate. “Our people are asking these questions: How come we apply for the American visa and are denied,” Archbishop Warda said.

The archbishops agreed that they would prefer for their people to remain in Syria and Iraq, if possible. But when they do apply for help to live abroad, Americans should treat them fairly, the prelates said. Archbishop Warda told the KofC: “Please remember this: this is part of your heritage, this is part of being an American. Please speak for the persecuted around the world, especially for the Christians today.”

Apparently our politicians prefer Mexican Catholics to Middle Eastern Catholics. But aren’t they supposed to be co-religionists? You know, like white and Black Baptists?

That’s because South American Catholics are saturated with Liberation Theology and therefore are much more likely to vote Democrat. Same goes for at least half of North American Catholics and “Evangelicals”, and most of the “mainstream” Christians.

Eastern Catholics, on the other hand, are from Orthodox sects and are much more conservative. They are vehemently anti-abortion, anti-gay-agenda, anti divorce-remarriage, anti-feminazi, and most important of all, anti-Moslem, and for very good reasons.

Nearly 1,000 Iraqi Muslim refugees, they're fine. Twenty to 28 Iraqi Christians make it here, they're in detention 2-4 months, and on their way back. Guess the administration figures they're bringing in enough Christians across the southern border.

In my experience those Middle Eastern chrstians are more anti-Israel than moslems are, and they have very little use for American Fundamentalist Protestants as well.

I don't think such immigrants would make much of a political difference one way or the other, but I am genuinely puzzled as to why Catholic clerics who are so gung-ho to fill the US up with Mexicans are simultaneously acting as if these Middle Eastern co-religionists of theirs don't exist. It's really weird.

Someone should ask a question the next time a bishop makes a pro-immigration speech, just to see how he'd react.
