Lord, on this Independence Day, we thank You for all who have served and are serving our nation in the armed forces. Bless their work and their sacrifice, and grant them Your peace.
Father, we thank You for the freedom we have long enjoyed, and for the prosperity and peace we have had in such abundance. These were all Your gifts, and we look to You for them now; from You, and not from ourselves or other human beings, do such good things come.
O LORD, the law will go out from You, and Your justice will become a light to the nations. Your righteousness draws near speedily, Your salvation is on the way, and Your arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to You and wait in hope for Your arm. The heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But Your salvation will last forever, and Your righteousness will never fail. You have told those who know what is right, who have Your law in their hearts, not to fear the reproach of men or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But Your righteousness will last forever, Your salvation through all generations. So we put our hope in You, in the Name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.
